My Name is Sarah Louise Pritchard, I am 42 years old and a wife of Martin and a Mother and step mother to 6 children. I have run a successful business for the last six years as a HD Brow Master. I was trained by the one and only Nilam Patel the founder of HD Brows. I am one of the very first HD brow masters ever trained in the world. My work has given me lots of fantastic opportunities including working on the new JK Rowling film due to be real eased in November 2016 “Fabulous Beasts and where to find them ”
I entered my first ever pageant in February 2016 and took the Galaxy UK Crown and title, this prestigious award then took me onto the international Pageant in August 2016 in Florida where I competed against beautiful ladies from around the world. I was very honored to be crowned Mrs. Galaxy International 2016 a moment I will never forget.
How did you get involved in pageants?
I got involved in pageants in 2012 whilst shopping for bridesmaid dresses in the Dress Studio Culcheth, the home of Pageant Girl. My daughter Ella got asked if she had ever considered entering Miss Teen GB, from that moment on I became a pushy pageant mum and crazy fan of all things sparkle. Ella took this fabulous title the second time she entered in 2013
Why did you decide to compete for the title of Mrs. Galaxy?
Having 4 daughters I see the constant battle they are under to look the way society thinks they should look. I hear them complain daily of being too fat or ugly, which is crazy coming from UK Size 6-10 girls. I too have yo-yo dieted even going to extremes of having a gastric balloon fitted in my stomach for 6 months.
I realized I was educating my children wrong and I wanted them to see that beauty is not skin deep and that it comes in all different shapes and sizes. I wanted acceptance, that a regular body sized woman could be as fabulous as a stereo typed beauty queen.
When you heard your name called and put on that sash what emotions or thought were going through your head?
Girls my tears were real!!! I stood on the stage and sobbed like a baby …. Gone was the scene that I had dreamt about for months, the picture of me gracefully and beautifully excepting the crown onto my head. Instead in true Sarah style I pull the ugliest crying faces known to man which Paul Carrol the official photographer snapped in full technicolor.
The variety of emotions I experienced in the very short moment was intense
SHOCK ……. I had been chosen over these other incredibly beautiful woman …
RELIEF …. Thank god it’s over!
HAPPINESS…. I did it, I did it!!!
GRATITUDE…. That those judges had seen something unique in me.
TIREDNESS…. Months of hard work had paid off!
It took me a few minutes to remember to smile but that night I think I smiled throughout my sleep!
What was the first thing you did after the pageant?
I went for Pizza of course!!!!
I went to Galaxy Internationals with eleven team mates. I don’t think in the history of Galaxy pageants a group of girls could bond and love each other the way we do. We celebrated the UK crowns with carbs and loved every minute of it!!!
Your daughter also competed at Galaxy how did it feel to have your daughter by your side?
The fact Ella was competing alongside me made the whole experience so so much more amazing. We both knew each other’s fears so could comfort at these times. We laughed together at night when we went over the day’s events. We watched each other grow in confidence, how many mums and daughters can say they have memories like this one. One of the best moments of my life and my daughter was on stage next to me, I could see the pride in her eyes when I was crowned, makes my heart fill with warmth when I think of it!
What do you think is the secret to iconic beauty?
I think the secret to iconic beauty is someone who has an unknown spark, a glow, an inner beauty that surrounds them with beautiful energy, but they can’t see how truly beautiful they are, but everyone else can.
What’s been your favorite moment so far as Mrs. Galaxy?
The best part of being Mrs. Galaxy is knowing that I am playing a part, OK only a very small part, but a part all the same in people life’s. I was approached by a Charity called Pride in Lleyton when I was crowned with my UK title. The charity is based around a little boy who has a rare disease called Niemann pick type C. I was asked to become Ambassador along with my daughter. Having taken this role, I am now totally in love with Joanne, Lee and little Lleyton, they are such a loving courageous family and are doing such a fantastic job making memories and spreading awareness of this terrible illness. To be part of something so special is so humbling and they thank me for my help, really I want to thank them for inviting me into their lives.
Who are your heroes?
Princess Diana is my hero now she IS an iconic beauty! Her spunky approach brought new life to the English Monarchy. Her aid work which she always greeted with a radiant smile and open arms never went unnoticed. Diana’s hands on approach to parenting. She was always so regal yet stayed so human at the same time. Diana was definitely our Queen of Hearts.
What should every woman try at least once in her life?
Eat the biggest piece of cake and wash it down with a “pawn star Martini” have no regrets, don’t think that your fat, after all you’re not going to say on your death bed “gee I wished I had stuck to that diet! ” live have fun …. I know when I skid into heaven at top speed I will be able to say “what a ride !!”
Describe yourself in two words?
What makes you laugh?
EVERYTHING!! I think anyone who knows me would agree that I laugh ALOT, generally I am the one clowning around causing mischief. I don’t take life too seriously and I honestly think the judges got a glimpse of this in my interview and thought it refreshing, after all how wonderful is it that we laugh because our bodies cannot contain all the JOY!!!!
Although this does bag the question …. Why do we trump also a lot? 😂😂😂😂😂😂 (couldn’t resist)
What item in your closet do you wear the most?
If it’s good enough for Bridget Jones, then it’s good enough for Mrs. Galaxy international…. It’s my Spanx! Every woman regardless of the size should own a pair. The fight you have for ten minutes pulling them over your bottom is definitely worth it as you achieve inch loss it seconds and I can give you exclusive inside information that most pageant girls wear them!
What is one item you can’t live without?
The easiest question of them all, my husband Martin, because my favorite place in all the world is being next to him …. Whilst wearing my Galaxy Crown! 😂
